Applied to Google and Facebook

I applied to 4 jobs at Google and 1 job at Facebook.

Interesting bits:

Google has an office in Midtown Atlanta, so I may be able to stay in Atlanta after all!

A former colleague of mine, James, works at Facebook. He invited me to dinner at Facebook HQ during my visit, so not only will I get to see what the company looks like, but I may bump into a hiring manager!

Anyways, the jobs I applied to are:

Software Engineer, Search
Platforms Software Engineer
Test Engineer
Software Engineer
Software Engineer, Facebook Platform

New Resume

I have a brand spankin' new resume. I completely threw out the idea of a one pager and went with two pages. I included short descriptions of my professional and academic activities, as well as a detailed list of my technical skills and community activities. I hope it sells!

California Dreaming

The more I think and consider, the more I want to do it. I want to move to California and live like a king! Or at least a duke.

I am going to try to find a job in Silicon Valley, rent (and later buy) a flat in San Jose, and live like I don't have a care in the world. If I can find a job that will pay as much as (or more than) I made at Microsoft, I will be set.

I need to redo my resume today to make it more appealing to potential employers, and I am also making a trip to see what Silicon Valley has to offer me. You can follow me on this blog to see what my progress is like.

Later!
